Climate Change & Entrepreneurship

Building resilient livelihoods through sustainable practices, green entrepreneurship, and climate-adaptive solutions that protect both incomes and the environment.

The Challenge

Climate Crisis Threatens Rural Livelihoods

One of the biggest issues is climate change, which is already negatively influencing the environment and becoming a bigger threat to humanity and sustainable development.

The impoverished are frequently reliant on weather-dependent economic activity. Changes in precipitation and temperature directly affect agriculture, forestry activities, and water resources, reducing livelihoods and food security.

At Risk

Vulnerable Sectors

Agriculture

Due to the dependence of agriculture on the monsoon and the predominance of rainfed agriculture in several states, threats to food security and agriculture exist.

Forests & Natural Ecosystems

Changes in the area and boundaries of various forest kinds, as well as challenges to biodiversity, have detrimental effects on populations that depend on forests.

Our Approach

Climate Action Initiatives

Udyogini is implementing comprehensive practices to mitigate climate change risks and build resilient rural livelihoods.

Sustainable Resource Utilization

Promoting scientific lac cultivation practices in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, agroforestry with mango and semialata plants, and training for value-added products from natural resources.

Lac cultivation practices
Agroforestry integration
Value-added products training

Optimal Resource Utilization

Promoting barren land utilization with Semialata and intercropping, encouraging medicinal and aromatic plant cultivation to reduce topsoil erosion.

Barren land development
Intercropping systems
MAP conservation

Green Agriculture Practices

Climate-smart and green agriculture practices without compromising food security and livelihoods of the population.

Organic farming promotion
Climate-smart practices
Evergreen revolution

Natural Resource Conservation

Creating water reservoirs to enable farmers to plant crops during zaid and rabi seasons, reducing dependency on unpredictable monsoons.

Water reservoir creation
Year-round cultivation
Climate resilience
Case Study

Solving Water Crisis in Daulatpura

The villages of Daulatpura, Rajasthan, located in the Dang hills, faced severe isolation and water scarcity. Agriculture and cattle raising are the primary occupations, but their entirely rain-fed nature made farming beyond subsistence nearly impossible.

The Problem: Women and children had to walk 1-2 kilometers (sometimes more) for water, taking an average of 2 hours daily. Wells and ponds dried up during summer, livestock died from water scarcity, and residents could only farm 10-30% of their land.
